The whole village used to prepare before Christmas, cleaning the streets and houses, decorating the church beautifully, special decorations and food in the houses. Our village used to have a festival from a few days before Christmas until the New Year. Toy shops, swings and special food stalls were set up for children.

The school used to prepare and stage plays for Christmas. A special Christmas party was also organized. Christmas programs and dramas from PTV were eagerly awaited. I always miss this beautiful background in a city like Karachi.

Even today there is a celebration in the village at Christmas but that is no longer the case. Karachi does not have the same adaptability that it used to have in the village. It was a pleasant experience to sit together with a fire in the ring in the bitter cold, talk and eat mung spread. During house cleaning, people used to clean their hearts and attitudes from hatred, evil and jealousy.

There was less emphasis on finances than on their own preparation and on the preparation of deserving people. Modern age and development have blown away our moral values ​​so much that it is hard to believe how quickly we have taken such a downward journey.
